Germany vs. Slovenia 2017
From the age of six, I fell in love with the ball, and football quickly became a big part of my life. It all began in my hometown, where my mom first encouraged me to play. I started out on the playground and in our front yard, where my passion for the game grew with every kick.
By the time I was eight, I had joined my first club, NK Radlje. Despite being the only girl on the team, I never felt out of place. I played alongside the boys until 2013, when league rules required me to switch to a girls‘ team. This led me to ŽNK Slovenj Gradec, and a year later, I followed my coach to a new team, ŽNK Radlje. In 2015, those two clubs merged, forming ŽNK Koroška, where I continued to grow as a player.
It was around this time that I recognized my potential and decided to pursue football more seriously. At 15, I enrolled in a program that allowed me to study and train under Slovenia’s best coaches. During the week, I focused on rigorous training and school; on weekends, I returned home to compete with my club.
Slovenia vs. Hungary 2017
My time at NK Fužinar was especially meaningful. My teammates and I celebrated an unforgettable victory, winning the U17 league championship. Leaving this team was difficult, but I was driven to seek new challenges and experiences. I transferred to ŽNK Olimpija, where I found what I was searching for and achieved another league title in 2018.
From a young age, I dreamed of playing professionally after high school. Before moving to Germany, I joined ŽNK Radomlje, a club that offered new challenges and the environment I needed to grow. This was the perfect stepping stone before my transfer to Germany’s 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam.
In the summer of 2019, my biggest dream came true—I became a professional footballer. I made the move to Potsdam, excited and ready to push my game to new heights.
I arrived in Potsdam near the end of the 2018/2019 season, eager to train with Europe’s top players like Sarah Zadrazil and Svenja Huth. Despite a strong start, I suffered a torn ACL during the 2019/20 preseason. It was my first major injury, and the lengthy rehab was mentally and physically challenging. Isolated by language barriers and far from family, I pushed through but developed patellar tendinitis, further delaying my recovery. Fourteen months later, in January 2021, I returned to the field, playing through lingering pain until PRP treatment finally helped.
I made my first-team debut that season but spent most of my time with the second team to gain experience. In 2021, I went on loan to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, where I felt valued but faced a tough season with few wins. Hungry for success, I returned to Slovenia to chase a title with ŽNK Olimpija, but an ankle sprain during my first friendly game impacted my season.
Despite our efforts, we missed out on the championship. Back at 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam, I was excited to compete at a high level again. I felt fit and confident but struggled with self-imposed pressure to perform. This led to another injury—a torn meniscus in the 2022/23 preseason. After four months of rehab, I returned to play 14 matches, though we were relegated. I extended my contract, aiming to enjoy more playing time in the second league.
In the 2023/24 preseason, disaster struck: I tore my ACL again. This was my hardest setback yet, as I felt ready to excel. Two surgeries later, I’m now in rehab, learning from every challenge. These experiences inspired me to write handbooks, sharing advice and motivation for others navigating injury recovery.
My second ACL tear was the hardest setback I’ve faced. It took a deep emotional toll, and I found myself feeling defeated, questioning my path after putting so much into my football career only to be sidelined by injuries so many times.a Football had always been my identity, and the thought of ending my career due to injuries was overwhelming. I kept asking myself: What will I do if I can no longer be a professional footballer?
To cope, I began focusing on social media, posting reels on Instagram. I enjoyed being on camera, and the engagement provided some needed encouragement. Soon, people started reaching out, asking questions about ACL injuries and rehabilitation. I realized that many people struggle with this injury, and most don’t have access to the level of rehab support that I do.
Many go through the process alone, with only basic guidance from a doctor or limited advice on recovery. This inspired me to create handbooks where I share essential physical and mental strategies for those preparing for and recovering from ACL surgery. I include my personal experiences with emotional challenges, the mental hurdles of rehab, and the journey back to sport. I believe these handbooks can offer valuable guidance and motivation to people who feel lost in their recovery.
My hope is that, through reading my book, others will gain confidence, understand their bodies better, and feel empowered to take control of their recovery. I want to inspire them to push through their challenges and come back stronger.
In June 2022 I went back to 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam.
In January 2022 I signed a new contract with ŽNK Olimpija Ljubljana till the end of the season. We've won the Slovenian Cup during this time.
In July 2021 I signed a new contract with the FC Carl Zeiss Jena Women Bundesliga Team. After 8 Bundesliga games for that Club I decided to go back to ŽNK OLIMPIJA.
In June 2019 I signed my first professional contract at the German Bundesliga Club 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam.
In 2019 I looked for a new challenge and decided to move to Radomlje. I played there only a half season before I went to Germany.
In 2017/18 I celebrated with ŽNK Olimpija Ljubljana the first place in the Slovenian Championship.
With NK FUŽINAR I won the Slovenian U17 Championship in the season 2016/17.
I played my first official match for the national team in 2015 when we were qualifying for the EU Championship 2016. Unfortunately, we did not qualify for the next qualifying round. A year later, we made it to the elite for the first time, beating England 1-0 in the last game. Every year after that we have always qualified in the elite part, but we never had the luck to qualify for the European Championship. The closest we ever came to it was last year (2019) when we were just one point short to qualify for the EU Championship. We played a very good game with the youth team, which was also evident in the results when we also beat some of the best national teams, such as: England, Austria, Portugal or Switzerland. I received my first call for the A national team in June 2017. At the time we had only preparations. I made my debut for the A national team in September 2017 with a match against Germany. In 2019 we won the Croatia cup where I also scored my first goal for the A team in the final. At the moment I can’t help the national team because of my injury. But I can’t wait to be back even stronger than before.
